Secure your Sentry surface

Errors leaking personal data, source maps exposed publicly, and release health as change evidence. We don’t connect to Sentry to collect evidence for its own sake — we connect to secure it, and the compliance artefacts follow from that work.

[01] What This Surface Exposes

Where Sentry goes wrong

Sentry goes wrong by capturing too much: error payloads routinely carry personal data, tokens and session identifiers nobody intended to store.

  • Error payloads capturing personal data, tokens, or session identifiers
  • Source maps served publicly, exposing your application source
  • Data scrubbing rules absent or too narrow for what your application handles
  • Retention holding sensitive error data longer than your policy permits
  • Broad organisation membership with access to production error detail

[02] What We Secure

What we watch, catch and fix on Sentry

On Sentry we inspect payloads for personal data, because error tracking is one of the most common unintentional data stores.

  • Error payload inspection for personal data, since error tracking is one of the most common unintentional data stores
  • Source map exposure tested from outside
  • Scrubbing rules tuned to your actual data model rather than defaults
  • Retention aligned to your data policy
  • Membership reviewed against who should see production error content

[03] Where It Lands

Where Sentry lands in your registers

Findings become risk register entries mapped to the specific assets they affect, with owners and deadlines driven by exposure rather than by CVSS alone. The asset register supplies the criticality that determines priority. Where a finding cannot be fixed, it becomes an accepted risk with a named owner and a review date, not an item that quietly ages out of a report.

[04] How We Engage

On Sentry specifically

On Sentry, we tighten scrubbing rules, correct retention, and remove public source map exposure. Reworking what your application sends to error tracking we plan with your engineers.

Platform licence

Everything you need to find and fix it yourself, with no ceiling on the depth of the answer.

  • Every connected tool monitored for misconfiguration and drift, with findings mapped to the assets and risks they affect
  • Remediation guidance that tells you what is wrong and exactly how to fix it — however deep or awkward the issue is. We are engineers running a security company, so the answer is the real one, not a link to vendor documentation
  • Assets, access reviews, and risk register populated from the tools themselves rather than from spreadsheets
  • Unlimited integrations and unlimited users, with anything missing built within two weeks

Managed service

Every tool you connect through Konfirmity comes under our care, with our team doing the work.

  • Continuous misconfiguration and drift monitoring across every connected tool, watched by our analysts rather than by a dashboard waiting for you
  • Incident response led by us, with containment coordinated with your team
  • Remediation performed directly wherever you have granted us the authority to act — and where we cannot act, we project-manage the fix to completion rather than handing you a ticket
  • Decision support on the tools themselves: where something is failing you on capability or costing more than it returns, we will tell you, and help you replace it

[05] Sentry FAQs

What Sentry access does Konfirmity need?

Konfirmity needs an organisation auth token with read scopes for projects, events and settings. We assess scrubbing configuration, retention and access. Where we sample event data it is to verify scrubbing is working, and that is agreed with you first.

Is Sentry really a data protection concern?

Frequently, yes. Exception payloads capture request bodies, headers and local variables, which means email addresses, tokens and sometimes payment data end up in a third-party system with its own retention. It is a processing activity, and it is usually undocumented.
