Secure your Slack surface

Credentials pasted into channels, external Connect access, and public channels holding regulated data. We don’t connect to Slack to collect evidence for its own sake — we connect to secure it, and the compliance artefacts follow from that work.

[01] What This Surface Exposes

Where Slack goes wrong

Slack goes wrong as a credential store nobody designed: keys and passwords pasted into channels stay searchable indefinitely.

  • API keys, passwords, and tokens pasted into channels and retained indefinitely
  • Slack Connect channels sharing conversation history with external organisations
  • Public channels containing customer data, accessible to every workspace member
  • Third-party apps installed with broad scopes reading channel content
  • Guest accounts retained long past the engagement that created them

[02] What We Secure

What we watch, catch and fix on Slack

On Slack we detect credentials across message history and treat the live secret as the incident, not the message.

  • Credential detection across message history, followed by rotation of what was exposed — the message is the symptom, the live credential is the problem
  • External Connect inventory with which organisation sees what
  • App scope review, since a single app with channels:history reads everything
  • Guest lifecycle reconciled against your HR and vendor records
  • Retention configured deliberately rather than left at unlimited

[03] Where It Lands

Where Slack lands in your registers

Workspaces and document stores enter the asset register with a data classification that reflects what is genuinely inside them rather than what policy says should be. Access reviews cover external members, guests, and link-based sharing alongside internal permissions. The risk register carries data exposure risk with the specific sharing configuration that creates it.

[04] How We Engage

On Slack specifically

On Slack, we revoke risky apps, remove stale guests and Connect channels, and drive rotation of exposed credentials as incidents. Retention policy changes we plan with you because they are irreversible and carry legal-hold implications.

Platform licence

Everything you need to find and fix it yourself, with no ceiling on the depth of the answer.

  • Every connected tool monitored for misconfiguration and drift, with findings mapped to the assets and risks they affect
  • Remediation guidance that tells you what is wrong and exactly how to fix it — however deep or awkward the issue is. We are engineers running a security company, so the answer is the real one, not a link to vendor documentation
  • Assets, access reviews, and risk register populated from the tools themselves rather than from spreadsheets
  • Unlimited integrations and unlimited users, with anything missing built within two weeks

Managed service

Every tool you connect through Konfirmity comes under our care, with our team doing the work.

  • Continuous misconfiguration and drift monitoring across every connected tool, watched by our analysts rather than by a dashboard waiting for you
  • Incident response led by us, with containment coordinated with your team
  • Remediation performed directly wherever you have granted us the authority to act — and where we cannot act, we project-manage the fix to completion rather than handing you a ticket
  • Decision support on the tools themselves: where something is failing you on capability or costing more than it returns, we will tell you, and help you replace it

[05] Slack FAQs

Does Konfirmity read our Slack messages?

Konfirmity scans for credential patterns and configuration risk, not for conversation content. The app is installed with scoped read permissions, findings report the location and the credential type rather than reproducing the surrounding discussion, and we agree the scope with you before installation.

How do you handle Slack Connect channels?

As external data sharing, which is what they are. Konfirmity inventories which external organisations can see which channels, and for how long. Connect channels routinely outlive the project that created them, leaving a third party with continued visibility of internal discussion.
