Secure your Box surface

Classification coverage, external collaboration scope, and shared links open to the public. We don’t connect to Box to collect evidence for its own sake — we connect to secure it, and the compliance artefacts follow from that work.

[01] What This Surface Exposes

Where Box goes wrong

Box goes wrong through external collaboration roles: an outside collaborator granted co-owner can reshare far beyond the original intent.

  • Shared links set to public access on folders holding regulated content
  • External collaborators with editor or co-owner roles
  • Classification labels absent on content that requires them
  • Retention policies not applied to folders holding regulated data
  • Apps authorised with broad enterprise scope

[02] What We Secure

What we watch, catch and fix on Box

On Box we review external collaboration scope by role and measure classification coverage against content that requires it.

  • Public link inventory against classification
  • External collaboration scope reviewed by role
  • Classification coverage measured against content that requires it
  • Retention policy application verified per folder
  • App authorisation reviewed

[03] Where It Lands

Where Box lands in your registers

Workspaces and document stores enter the asset register with a data classification that reflects what is genuinely inside them rather than what policy says should be. Access reviews cover external members, guests, and link-based sharing alongside internal permissions. The risk register carries data exposure risk with the specific sharing configuration that creates it.

[04] How We Engage

On Box specifically

On Box, we restrict public links, downgrade external roles, and apply retention. Classification programme rollout we run with your data owners.

Platform licence

Everything you need to find and fix it yourself, with no ceiling on the depth of the answer.

  • Every connected tool monitored for misconfiguration and drift, with findings mapped to the assets and risks they affect
  • Remediation guidance that tells you what is wrong and exactly how to fix it — however deep or awkward the issue is. We are engineers running a security company, so the answer is the real one, not a link to vendor documentation
  • Assets, access reviews, and risk register populated from the tools themselves rather than from spreadsheets
  • Unlimited integrations and unlimited users, with anything missing built within two weeks

Managed service

Every tool you connect through Konfirmity comes under our care, with our team doing the work.

  • Continuous misconfiguration and drift monitoring across every connected tool, watched by our analysts rather than by a dashboard waiting for you
  • Incident response led by us, with containment coordinated with your team
  • Remediation performed directly wherever you have granted us the authority to act — and where we cannot act, we project-manage the fix to completion rather than handing you a ticket
  • Decision support on the tools themselves: where something is failing you on capability or costing more than it returns, we will tell you, and help you replace it

[05] Box FAQs

What Box access does Konfirmity need?

Konfirmity needs a read-only service account through a Box custom app with enterprise scope, covering users, folders, collaborations and shared links. We read structure and permissions rather than file contents.

Do you use Box classification labels?

Yes, and we measure coverage rather than trusting them. Labels are only as good as their application, so we report content that requires classification and lacks it, which is usually where retention and access policies silently fail to apply.
